Z: Please introduce yourself

M: My name is Mary Wariara. I am a dancer. I’m a bubbly fun loving person. I go to City of Refuge Cathedral at the National Museum. I love my church.

Z: What’s your hair story?

M: I’ve been natural all my life. I’ve never ever had a relaxer. In fact the most drastic thing I’ve ever done to my hair is cut it. I cut it when I was 8 and that’s it.

Z: Wow! I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who’s been natural all their life! Did you ever consider relaxers?

M: No, I didn’t. I like my hair natural and that’s because I find natural hair very low maintenance. I didn’t want to have to worry about the damage or expenses that come with relaxers.

Z: Have you had any hair disasters?

M: Not really, No!

Z: What’s the best thing about being natural?

M: Its cheap (laughs). No but seriously, its so much easier because you don’t have to worry about getting your hair wet; running away from the rain, avoiding the swimming pool, its just a lot less stressful being natural.

Z: You hair is so long and thick. What do you do to retain length and thickness?

M: I take good care of my hair, but I don’t over do things. My routine is really simple. I wash and condition my hair, then I either blow-dry and wear it straight, or I plait it in cornrows. Right now, I have cornrows.

Z: Your hair is also very shiny and healthy, what products do you use on it?

M: I use regular green shampoo, the kind you find at the salon and regular conditioner. I deep condition with Venus and I use Peris Herbal Pomade to moisturize my hair. That’s it!

Z: Ok, Lets talk about skin, what’s your regimen and what products can you absolutely not live without?

M: I wash with plain water and go!

Z: What? Are you serious? I hate you! (lol)

M: Seriously. I like to be very natural. I don’t like messing with all those creams. I’ve always been that way.

Z: What are you passionate about?

M: Worship and dancing! I love it and for me, its not just about the dance. I see it as a form of ministry. That’s one of my greatest passions.

Z: Anything else you want people to know about you?

M: I just want to welcome everyone to my church! (Lol) It’s a great church, its called City of Refuge Cathedral and we meet every Sunday at the National Museum in Nairobi, Kenya.

Z: Thank you Mary and thanks for being so sweet!

M: Any time girl!
